3. Sidemount Nitrox Diver
WHAT ARE 5 BENEFITS OF DIVING WITH NITROX
Less nitrogen in your body lowers the chance of decompression sickness (DCS), improving your overall dive safety. Absorbed nitrogen is the main cause of this disorder in which nitrogen dissolved in the blood and tissues by high pressure forms bubbles as pressure decreases. Symptoms can include fatigue and pain in muscles and joints.
2.EXTENDED BOTTOM TIME
Recreational Nitrox which may contain anything between 21 and 40 percent of oxygen, has a lower percentage of nitrogen than air. This allows divers to extend their no-decompression limits/ dive time by reducing the amount of nitrogen that is absorbed. The less nitrogen there is in a diver’s breathing gas, the lower his nitrogen absorption will be at a given depth.
For example, on a deep wreck dive at the 24m: If you dive on air, your maximum bottom time on the wreck located at 24m/ 78ft will be around 25 minutes. Diving with Nitrox EAN36 enables you to remain for about 50 minutes at the same depth, keeping in mind your air-consumption.
3.SHORTER SURFACE INTERVAL
A Nitrox diver absorbs less nitrogen for a given depth and dive time than a diver who uses air. This means that that diver has less nitrogen to off-gas during a required surface interval, which can drastically shorten it.
4. LONGER REPETITIVE DIVE TIMES
If a diver engages in more than one dive per day, Nitrox becomes particularly useful. The diver will have a longer allowable bottom time on a repetitive dive than a diver using air, as he has absorbed less nitrogen.
Many divers report a significant difference in alertness after a dive with Nitrox. They claim to be less exhausted than after a comparable dive on air, which may be caused by the lower absorption of nitrogen.
BECOME A NITROX DIVER
This Program is designed to provide Sport Divers with a safer than air breathing medium for enjoying dives in the 40 to 132 fsw (12 to 40 msw) depth ranges. The diver may elect to dive the “mix” on EANx tables, or dive conservatively using air dive computers or air tables.
The IANTD EANx Diver qualification may be taught as a single Program or combined with a variety of the IANTD Advanced or Specialty Diver Programs.
The Program covers the use of EANx mixes in the range of 21% to a maximum of 40% oxygen.
How deep can you dive with the IANTD EANx Diver Program?
No dives may be conducted to depths greater than the student’s previous qualification, or a maximum of 132 fsw (40 msw).
What do you need to enroll in this program?
A minimum of 15 years of age.
Must be a qualified Open Water Diver
What is the minimum materials requirements?
IANTD EANx Student Kit
What this program must include?
Gas analysis with two different analyzers
Open Water Sessions ( optional)
Visit to the gas blender station ( optional)
Wherever you want to go, IANTD can take you there!!
One of IANTD differentials in the formation of any confident and safe IANTD Diver is our training philosophy known as:
A relaxed confident diver is a safe diver who will enjoy exploring inner-space and pursue diving adventures for a lifetime.
